Kangtase Peak :
In the highest reaches of the Western Himalaya is Ladakh, and area of rugged beauty, much like a moonscape at times. It is a mountainous land of high passes, green-bottomed valleys and vast, barren expanses, with its rarefied atmosphere, lying in the shadows of the Karakoram and Himalayas.
Day 1 Arrive in leh :
The spectacular one hour mountain flight over the mighty Himalayas brings you to Leh, capital of the ancient Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh. Arrive and transfer to Ladakhi style hotel. A day of rest to acclimatize to the arid high altitude of Leh (3100 mts). Relax in the hotel gardens or take a leisurely stroll around the colourful bazaar. overnight in the hotel.
Day 2 ,Around Leh :
After breakfast, a half day trip to the 200 year old Shankar monastery, which contains a plethora of impressive images, wall paintings and sculptures, including a huge statue of Aloketesvara-with 1000 arms & heads. Next stop is the Japanese built peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa).
The winding road leading to it offers enthralling views of the surrounding countryside. Crowned with a massive dome, this stupa is reminiscent of Nalanda and Rajgir stupas. Afternoon, visit a Ladakhi Buddhist family and share a cup of butter tea, tsampa (roasted barley) and tschang (fermented barley beer), and see their the way of living. overnight in the hotel.
Day 3, Leh – zingchang – Gangala base.[ 5 t0 6 hrs] :
After breakfast we start drive to zingchang it will take 45 mints to reach zingchang from their trek will start, today its gradual up hill up to base camp of gandala base. Over night in tent.
Day 4, Gandala base – Sku (7 to 8 hrs. Trek) :
Early morning start. The trail zik-zik and over the Ganda-La (4900 m). Along the way, you will have beautiful views of the Zanskar and KaraKoram ranges. Long, but easy descent to Shingo,A fairly easy walk, in the shade of trees and bushes, along a deep gorge. The trail crosses the stream several times before arriving in Skiu. We camp for the night in a beautiful spot on the banks of the river, overlooking a derelict fortress on the cliff. Afternoon free to explore the village. Overnight in tents.
Day 5, Skiu – Markha (7 hrs. Trek) :
A long days walk, crossing back and forward over the Markha Stream, to Markha village (3800 m). There are bridges at many of the more difficult crossing places. The lush vegetation along the river-side is in stark contrast to the dry and barren upper valley slopes. Overnight in tents.
Day 6, Markha-Tchatchutse (6 hrs. trek) :
The trail continues above Markha village, taking us eastwards, deeper into the Markha valley to our camp-site at Tchatchutse. Along the way, we pass some impressive monasteries, some ruined and some intact. In this area we are likely to see small herds of blue sheep (bharal) which often come right down to the river to graze. Overnight in tents.
Day 7, Tchatchutse-Nimaling:(6hrs.) :
Todays walk brings us to the head of the valley, which offers good views of the prominent peak of Kang Yatze (6,400 m) Crossing the Markha stream on the last bridge, we start a steeper climb towards the high plains, known as Nimaling. As well as blue sheep, golden marmots and large hares, Nimaling is also home to an impressive range of birds of prey, including lammergiers and golden eagles. Overnight in tents.
Day 8, Nimaling-Kongmaru La-Shang (7 hrs.) :
Early morning trek to Kongmaru-La (5100 m).
The trail from the pass offers fabulous views to the north of the hills of eastern Karakoram and China. On our way down, we walk along a narrow gorge and by afternoon; arrive in Shang, our stopping place for the night. Overnight in tents.
Day 9, Shang-Hemis-Leh :
Continuing our descent, we pass some of the highest located houses in the valley before descending into another section of rocky gorge. Along the way we pass through the village of Martsylang, before arriving in Hemis for lunchtime. This village, nestled in a gorge, is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. After lunch and rest, explore Hemis Monastery, the biggest and wealthiest in Ladakh. Late afternoon, we return by jeep to our hotel in Leh.
Day 10. Fly back :

MENTOK KANGRI EXPEDITION- LADAKH RUPSHU VALLEY :
An excellent straightforward climb with awesome views of the surrounding peaks and the Tso-Morari Lake. It is a great objective for fit trekkers without any climbing experience. Although the ascent is not difficult, but thin air make it quite challenging.
Technical Difficulty: Low-angle snow or straightforward scrambling on rocks. Ropes/crampons are required, Previous climbing experience is not essential.
Fitness: Good basic fitness, Average rucksack weight 5/6 kg.

Day 1 :
Leave your country for New Delhi.
Day 2 Delhi-Leh :
Arrive Delhi, and straight transfer to domestic airport for your early morning flight to Leh. The spectacular, one-hour, mountain flight over the mighty Himalayas brings you to Leh, the capital of the ancient Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh. Transfer to Ladakhi style hotel. A day of complete rest to acclimatize to the arid high altitude of Leh (3100 mts). Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 3 See around Leh :
Morning after breakfast guided walk to see Japanies Pagoda called Shanti Stupa – here you have the most beautiful view of Indus valley & Leh town. Later walk down to visit & Sankar monastery. After lunch in Leh market visit Leh palace. Overnight in hotel.
Day 4 Leh-Hemis, Thiksey Shey :
After leisurely breakfast we leave with our pack lunch to visit three most important monasteries of Ladakh – Hemis Gompa, Thiksey Gompa and Shey Palace. Hemis is one of the largest and wealthiest monasteries in Ladakh and houses about 150 monks; it also stages the annual Hemis festival. The Gompa, nestled in a gorge and surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, was built in the 18th century and houses a wide range of beautiful frescoes, thankas, Buddha statues and an excellent library. On the way back to Leh, we visit the superbly situated, 16th century, Thiksey Gompa, which is perched on a hill top. The Gompa houses an important collection of Tibetan-style books, a huge Buddha statue and some excellent works of art. Last stop is the ruined Shey Palace, once the summer palace of the pre-Tibetan kings. The palace monastery houses a large, bronze, blue haired Buddha statue. Back to Leh hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 Leh- Rumtse :
After breakfast, we drive along the main Indus Valley to Rumtse village (4300 M) which we reach after a scenic drive of almost 80 kilometres (3hrs.). Enroute, we pass through amazing Ladakhi scenery, with huge rock walls towering on either side of the road. After unloading at Rumtse, we trek few kms/ less then 1hr. to a camping place situated on the river.
Day 6 Rumtse- Kyamar ( Trek Starts) :
On this first day, we start out with a lovely walk on a well defined path to a camp at the foot of the Kyamar La (4925 M). The route takes us through pleasant pastures, with several small river crossings. This is an area much used by nomadic shepherds and we will get used to seeing their tented camps, surrounded by herds of sheep. We set up camp on the grazing ground of Kyamar (4380 M). 5 to 6 hours trekking.
Day 7 Kyamer- Tisaling :
After breakfast ascend to the Kyamar La (4925 M) from where there are beautiful views of the Zanskar range, and towards north high plateau of the Chang Tang. We descend on grassy slopes to Tiri Doksa, a temporary shepherding settlement and then continue to a stream, beyond which we trek up to the low col of the Mandalachan La (4805 M). Descend to camp at Tisaling (4720 M) about 6hrs trek.
Day 8 Tisaling- Phongponagu :
After breakfast we start our long day trek over the Thasang La (5030 M) from the top we will have fine views of Tso Kar Lake. We desend gradually to the shores of this brackish salt water lake, we find ourselves in an area where there are lots of nomad camps. Flocks of sheep and goats and small herds of yaks are scattered across the pastures, as are the nomads’ tents. Walking around the lake, we set up camp at Phongponagu (4430 M), a place which is well known for sighting tibetan wild asses (kyangs), ibex, marmots and several species of migratory birds. 7 to 8 hours trekking.
Day 9 Explore Tsokar lake – Thugjay monastery & nomad village :
Today after breakfast we walk about 02 hrs to visit small nomad village & its monastery on the mountain side. Later walk close to to the lake to see the wildlife around. Later after lunch walk back to camp for overnight.
Day 10 Phongponagu- Nuruchan :
Today after breakfast we star relatively easy trek , as we cross open plains, looking out for the distinctive and very robust kyangs amongst the occasional groups of livestock. It takes 4 to 5 hours to reach our overnight halt on the pastures of Nuruchan. This is a high and wild part of the world, inhabited by rare blue sheep (bharal) and also wolves. Camp for overnight.
Day 11 Nuruchan- Rachungkaru :
After breakfast continue our trek towards Tso Morari. We climb gently to the Nuruchan La (4750 M) and drop down into another herding area. We aim to reach our camp at Rachungkaru early afternoon and have the afternoon to unwind. 4 hrs trek.
Day 12 Rachungkaru- Gyabarma :
Another hard day, as we cross passes of Kyamaru La (5200 M) and the Gyabarma La (5175 M). Even though we are by now well – acclimatised, trekking at this altitude always feels quite tough. Camp is on the pastures at Gyabarma at a height of around 5000 metres. About 7 to 8 hrs. trek.
Day 13 Gyabarma- Karzok Dok :
Today after breakfast we cross the higest pass (Yalung Nyau La /5300 M). on the trek to reach Tso Morari. Beyond an initial ridge at 5150 metres, we drop into a broad valley to begin the easy climb to the pass. At the crest of the pass, there are breath-taking views of the blue expanse of Tso Morari and its backdrop of snow-capped peaks. The long descent to Karzok Dok takes about 4 hours.
Day 14 Karzok Dok- Karzok :
After breakfats we trek along the beautiful lake and after 3/4 hours we reach the very picturesque lakeside village of Karzok (4350mts)., with a dozen or so houses and a gompa appearing like a mirage among the barren hills.
This is the only permanent settlement in Rupshu, otherwise the region is only inhabited by the nomadic Chang Pa heard people, who move with their Yaks and cattle to high pastures. Afternoon
We explore this area and lake, which supports Kayang (the wild ass of Tibet), marmots, hares, and tailless rats. We may also see blue sheep, if we are lucky, we may even spot a snow Leopard. The lake is the breeding grounds for numerous species of birds, including the Bareheaded Goose, great crested grebe, brahmini duck, brown headed gull.
Day 15 Karzok/ Base Camp :
After breakfast we trek gradually to the Base camp of Mentok at 5420mts, about 5/6hrs trek. We fix our camp for three nights.
Day 16 Summit day :
Our summit day begins before dawn, to give us ample time for the climb. It is most likely that we do not need our crampons for the most part as we scramble over scree and boulders, which lead up to the top. Most of the ridge is like a steep path, so ropes are not usually necessary, although some scrambling is required. At an altitude approaching 6000mts it is extremely tiring and anybody who needs a rope will be able to use one. The summit is a superb reward for your effort, giving magnificent views in every direction. we return all the way back to base camp,. The evening meal will be accompanied by a wee dram to celebrate the occasion!
Day 17 Base camp-Karzok – Leh :
After early breakfast we trek back to road head at karzok, where our jeeps will be waiting to drive us Leh the capital of Ladakh, the drive is long and bumpy via the beautiful village of Chumathang with the road snaking its way through gorges between the Ladakh and Zanskar ranges. In the evening we arrive at Leh to comforts of Ladakhi style hotel for 3 nights.. About 4/5 hrs back to our camp at Rugyado Phu, cerebrations of this fascinating climb. Overnight in tents.
Day 18 Delhi/Leh :
early morning flight to Delhi. Arrive and transfer to the hotel where we have day rooms available until 1800hrs. After lunch we will have a guided visit today to Red Fort and the Mosque. After dinner transfer to international airport for your flight back to home country.
Day 19 Fly Back

Stok kangri 6150 mts
Day 1. Arrive Leh :
Warm welcome and transfer to hotel. Day complete rest in the guest househotel.
Day 2. Leh-sightseeing :
After breakfast transfer to Nimu for half Day Rafting on the Indus, we bob through the charming villages and cultivated land, after Picnic lunch, Visit to Alchi and Spitok monasteries.. The Gompa at Alchi is renowned for its massive Buddha statues, lavish wood-carvings and houses the only example of Kashmiri-style wall paintings in the area. There are also many chortens around the village. Back to Leh for, Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 03: Drive Leh – Spituk then Trek to Zingchen (4/5 hrs trekking) :
Leave Guest House after breakfast for Spituk 7km. Visit Gelugpa sect picturesque monastery built on hill top by Lama Od-lde in 11th century. After then drive to trekking point. After loading all luggages, start your first day trek with gentle trek upon vast open terrain. Follow the clear path and continue easy and gentle trek keeping Indus River on right. As you come across the valley on left, leave Indus behind and enter in the valley. Continue trek along the upstream small river as far as Zingchen (small village). Afternoon explore village and in the evening visit local house. Overnight at camp (3380m).
Day 04: Trek Zingchan – Rumbak – Base of Stok-la (5/6 hrs) :
Leave camp after breakfast; continue the journey on the path that leads away from the river. Climb gently till we reach Rumbak village. Pass Rumbak then continue gently ascend up through the barren lunar landscape of Ladakh. The weather is hot during the day and cold at night. Overnight at camp. (4100m).
Day 05: Trek Base of Stok La – Stok-La (4850m) – Mankarmo (5/6 hrs) :
Post breakfast, continue trek with gradual ascent to Stokla pass. From the campsite walk up east and then on your right you find a path zigzagging up the mountain. At first it looks quite steep then later cross over the cleft to the left and heads up east at a less troubling gradient as far as top of the pass. From the top, enjoy and capture awesome and spectacular view of snow leopard kingdom on your right hand side, imposing Indus valley and enormous huge towering mountains of great Himalaya. Cross the pass, easy and gentle descend down as far as Mankarmo. Overnight at camp. (4700m).
Day 06: Trek Mankarmo – Base Camp (4/5 hrs) :
After early breakfast, continue trek with gradual ascent to reach at base camp. Arrive at campsite before Lunch. Post Lunch, take a short climb from base camp to better acclimatize. Climb a further 100 m and then come back down again to get an early night in preparation for tomorrow’s summit attempt. Overnight at camp (Approx. 4900m).
Day 07: Trek Base Camp – Stok Kangri Summit (6150 m) – Base Camp (7/8 hrs) :
Early in the morning, start full of adventurous and challenging summit with gradual climbing to avail of the best weather conditions and a possible sunrise at the summit. First, climb onto a ridge which leads to a large glacier. After crossing the glacier, ascend steeply to the summit. This last leg is the most difficult and takes a lot of physical and mental strength. The panoramic view from the summit is second to none. To the north-west the Karakoram Range, including K2 (8611 m), seems endless. One can also see the Zanskar Range and view of Tibet in the distance, an outstanding vista of snow-capped peaks. Overnight at base camp.
Day 08: Spare Summit Day :
Overnight at base camp.
Day 09: Trek Base Camp – Stok village then drive to Leh (6 hrs) :
Post breakfast; start easy and gentle trek descending down in the valley. Descend down all the way as far as Stok village. This is a great walk passing by numerous ruins of old forts and castles; spectacular and wonderful landscape with charming meadows; wonderful huge mountains. It takes about six hours to reach Stok village from where you drive to Leh via visiting Stok Palace. Overnight at hotel in Leh.
